Byers, Executive Director, on Governor Murphy's announcement today: “The New Jersey Conservation Foundation commends and congratulates Atlantic City Electric and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection for purchasing and permanently preserving the 1,380 acre “Holly Farm” in Millville as public trust conservation lands for all New Jerseyans. We applaud today’s announcement and are honored to support the New Jersey Green Acres Program on this momentous land preservation achievement. Ecotourism is a major economic force in this region and the preservation of the Holly Farm will boost public visitation and enjoyment, bringing much needed economic benefits to the area.” “New Jersey Conservation has advocated for over 3 decades alongside our partners - Citizens United to Protect the Maurice River, Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions, New Jersey Audubon, and The Nature Conservancy, and many other local environmental advocates and citizen groups - to secure the protection of this unique ecological treasure. These two square miles of natural forest are home to at least 17 rare animal species, unique flora, and pristine wetlands, and are embedded within the most important and extensive preserved forest landscape along the Delaware Bay, between the pristine Manumuskin River and Menantico Creek.
